ASSIGNED SHIFT: Shift is normally an 8-hour shift (6:00 AM to 2:30 PM, Thursday-Monday) but could be more or less and hours could be changed depending on the needs of The Glen. (assignment may vary)
REPORTING: Housekeeping & Laundry Supervisor
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: To wash/dry washable clothing belonging to the residents of the facility. To launder all linens for the facility and maintain an adequate clean linen supply.
ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Retrieves soiled laundry from resident areas and returns laundered items to correct places.
2. Maintains infection control by proper handling of clean and dirty linen, keeping said linens separate and not allowing soiled linen to be delivered through clean linen area.
3. Follows standard washing and drying procedures.
4. Launders resident machine-washable clothing according to labeling instructions & returns to resident in a timely manner.
5. Removes thin, torn or permanently stained linen from supply and saves for cleaning rags.
6. Maintains an adequate supply of clean linen for resident use.
7. Reports all malfunctioning equipment.
8. Keeps laundry area clean and lint free at all times.
9. Maintains lost & found area for unmarked clothing.
10. Launder and steam press tablecloths and napkins to be used in dining areas of all households.
Other related projects, duties and responsibilities may be assigned as deemed necessary.

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.
- Must be people-oriented individual, have good communication skills, and the ability to work with a diverse group of people.
- Must be able to work overtime as required.
- Well organized and self-motivated.
- Laundry experience very desirable
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Must be able to fulfill job requirements in a high-energy, high-traffic area.
- Must be able to lift/carry up to 50 pounds; push/pull up to 90 pounds.
- Extensive standing, walking, reaching, pushing, pulling, bending, lifting
- Working in warm, humid environment
